Rev. Edward Lee

REVLEEOBITRev. Edward Dean Lee passed into the loving arms of his Lord at his home in Morgan Hill, California on March 9, 2015. Rev. Lee was born in Artesia, New Mexico on August 18, 1948, the son of Ruffus E. and Imogene (Rowin) Lee. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1966 and attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX where he received his B.A. in 1970. He is also a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law an a member of the State Bar of New Mexico. In 1999 he received his Masters of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Rev. Lee worked for 20 years as an attorney in the title insurance industry in New Mexico and was a past president of the New Mexico Land Title Association. He owned and operated Chaves County Abstract Company in Roswell, New Mexico before responding to God’s call to ordained ministry. After his ordination, Rev. Lee served as pastor of Gonzales Community Church (PCUSA) in Gonzales, CA for 14 years, until he retired for health reasons. He served as a faithful colleague in ministry in the San Jose Presbytery, and has been named as Pastor Emeritus for the Gonzales Church.

A memorial service will be held at Santa Teresa Hills Presbyterian Church, 5370 Snell Avenue, San Jose, CA, where Rev. Lee served as Parish Associate, on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m.

Rev. Lee is survived by his loving wife, Myrna Joy of Morgan Hill, CA; his mother, Imogene Lee of Roswell, NM; his sister Janie Hammons (and Gene) of Ft. Worth, TX; two loving stepdaughters, June and Jennifer; four grandchildren, Ben, Jake, Grace and Yasemin to whom he was known as “Papa Ed;” and three nephews.
