Agustin Horton, 52, of Roswell, NM passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born February 7, 1963, in Roswell, NM to Felipe and Fernanda Horton.
He graduated from high school in 1979. He also served in the United States Army National Guard and worked construction for many years.

Preceding him in death were his father, Felipe L. Horton; two sisters, Mary L. Horton and Frances Horton; one brother, Rosito Horton, three nephews, Angel Horton, Befonio Garcia and Abaristo Garcia, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Fernanda Horton and Arnaldo Enriquez, his fiancée Esther of the home; his siblings, Cruz Dillard, Nancy Garcia and Abalesto Sr., Rose Hernandez, Juanita Rubio and Vicente, Fernanda Jr. Garcia, Adam Horton, Sally Chavez, Katherine Horton and Phillip Navarette and Carmen all of Roswell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Agustin loved to fish, camp, dance and also enjoyed drawing and writing. He was very artistic with everything and loved music.

Pallbearers will be: Mario Ledesma, Clayton Means, Pedro Ysasi, Pete Hernandez, Ernie Horton and Joe Dillard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mario Cardona and Sam Garcia.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Deacon Ernesto Martinez officiating. Interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Alsup, 84, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home.

Pastor Danny Sons of Midway Assembly will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jay Alsup, Corey Stevens, Greg Norton, Scott Lutzke, Nate Payne, and Jason Robertson.

Alice was born November 20, 1930 in Hagerman, New Mexico; the daughter of Alpha Deason and Nora (Connell) Deason.

On October 16, 1948 she was married to James Alsup in Roswell, N.M. They moved to Artesia in 1972 from Roswell then moved back to Roswell in May of 2014.

Alice attended Hagerman High School and worked as a sales clerk in Roswell at Anthony’s and Sears and also in Artesia at Marsh’s. Her family was her resume.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lorene Deason, Alene VonEssen, Ruth Deason, and Leona Mayberry; and a grandson, Scott Klein.

Survivors include her husband James Alsup of the family home; son Larry Alsup and wife Judie of Roswell; daughter Cindy Blake and husband Glen Blake of Roswell; grandchildren Michelle Lutzke, Krista Norton, Jay Alsup, Tori Robertson, Ashleigh Stevens, and Corey Stevens; great-grandchildren Nick Lutzke, Madison Lutzke, Zane Lutzke, Kyle Norton, Faith Norton, Olivia Norton, Zoe Alsup, Reese Alsup, Bryce Alsup, Cameron Robertson, Carleigh Robertson, Connor Robertson, and Aubrey Payne; nephews Donnie Mayberry and wife Erma of Artesia and Ronnie Mayberry and wife Michelle of Hagerman, NM; numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.

ZAMORAobitGene Zamora Sr., 70, passed away on April 7, 2015 in Roswell. He was born on May 23, 1944 to Juan Bautista Zamora and Teresa Gamboa in Oakland, CA.

After earning his degree, he taught special education at Roswell High School until he retired. Gene married Dianna on March 30, 1999, celebrating 15 years together, until her passing in January 2015.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Dianna, both parents and a brother, Ruben.

Gene is survived by his children: Eric Zamora (Frances); Gene Zamora (Tracy); Della Reeves (Jim) and Jennifer Salazar (Danny); Patricia Cardoza; stepchildren: Tammy Cunningham (Charles) and Tonya Crabb (Alex); brothers: Lee Zamora and Ernest Zamora; sisters: Mary Matta and Edith Arias. Also surviving him are 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Artesia Animal Clinic at 110 W. Malone Dr., Artesia, NM 88210.

Phyllis Lacock, 95, passed away on March 28 in Albuquerque.  She was preceded in death by her husband James Lacock and a son Phillip. She left behind three children, Michael Foran, of Henderson, NV, Jo Anne Bechtel of Dickinson, TX and Holly Stenerson of Albuquerque. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held April 17 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic church in Albuquerque.

Rosemary Elizabeth Herschkorn, 92, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015. She was born September 19, 1922 in Buffalo, NY, to Earl and Rose Fisher. She was preceded in death by both her mother and father and her brother Earl Fisher, Jr. Her sister Carolyn Grey of Carson City, Nevada survives her. She is survived by her four children: daughter Haroldeane Harty of Albuquerque and her sons, Craig Harty of Calgary, Canada and Christopher Harty of Albuquerque; daughter Rosemarie Davis of Albuquerque and her children Eric Davis, Robin Davis, Amy Davis and Ryan Davis, all of Albuquerque; daughter Jacqueline Hewett and her husband Bud Hewett of Roswell, NM and their daughters Jessica Hewett of Lubbock, TX and Cheyenne Hewett of Albuquerque; son John Herschkorn of Albuquerque and his children, daughter Candace Herschkorn, daughter Tegan Lavato, son Jordan Herschkorn and daughter Riley Herschkorn all of Albuquerque. Rosemary also has seven great-grandchildren. Rosemary grew up in Buffalo, NY and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY as a student while she was still in high school. Her mother took her every week for vocal lessons.  Rosemary became a world class vocalist for many years, touring throughout Europe with the USO and performing with the likes of Bob Hope and Marlene Dietrich. During her European tour she traveled and performed with the musical show “Anything Goes”.  After her return from Europe as World War II ended, she continued performing at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and the Malibu Beach Club in California. She also performed in a number of finer hotels and supper clubs throughout Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco. She put her career on hold when she married Lt. Colonel (ret.) John A. Herschkorn and raised her family. She moved all over the U.S. as a military wife and selected Albuquerque as her home after her separation as a military wife. She began to perform again occasionally in Albuquerque with pianist and composer, Phil Lenk. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 10 a.m. at Direct Funeral Services in Albuquerque, NM.  Interment will be immediately following the service at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

GUITERREZobitOur dearest beloved Isidore Gutierrez, Jr., age 56, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in El Paso, TX. “Izzy”, as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born June 26, 1958 in Roswell, NM, to Isidore and Maria Elena “Nena” Navaratte Gutierrez.

Survivors include his daughter Corina G. Bejarano and husband Juan of Roswell; his sons Alfred Rodriguez of Ruidoso and Fernando Gutierrez and Stephanie Serna of Las Cruces. His mother, Maria Elena of Las Cruces and sister Vicky Gutierrez from Roswell, uncles Lieandro Gutierrez and wife Connie, Gene Gutierrez and wife Phyllis, from Roswell, Sonny Navaratte from El Paso, TX, one aunt, Dora Gonzales, and husband Clifford from Roswell, NM. Seven grandchildren, as well as one niece, two nephews and several cousins.

Izzy was preceded in death by his father, Isidore Gutierrez, Sr. in 2000 and his brother Victor Gutierrez in 1992.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at La-Paz Graham’s Funeral Home, 555 W. Amador Avenue. Inurnment of cremains will be held at the Dona Ana Cemetery, 601 Dona Ana School Road, Dona Ana, NM, immediately following the memorial services.

Isidore Jr. served in the U.S. Army and will be buried with military honors accorded by the Marine Corps League-El Perro Diablo Detachment of Las Cruces, NM.

The family of Isidore Jr. would like to give special thanks and blessings to the staff at Horizon Specialty Hospital in El Paso, TX for their love and exceptional patient care.

Ray Lennan Rowlett, age 88, from Carlsbad, NM (formerly of Russellville, AL), passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Mr. Rowlett proudly served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.
The visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, Alabama, with the service following at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Speaking at the funeral will be Bro. Ricky Gardner, Bro. Billy Entrekin, and Bro. John Ed Rowlett. Burial with full military honors will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie J. Rowlett; his parents, Homer and Inez Rowlett; brothers, Carl and Joe; and sisters, Ramona and Jeanelle.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Velma Rowlett, of Carlsbad, NM; his children, Donna Entrekin (husband, Billy), Jimmy Dale Rowlett (wife, Linda), John Ed Rowlett (wife, Patsy), Janet Massey (husband, A.C.); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

SOMMERVILLEobitRobert L. Sommerville, 77, of Roswell, NM, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015. He was born on July 15, 1937 in Greensville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Sommerville, as well as his brothers James and Jerry Sommerville, and his sisters Roseann Weir and Caroline Williams.

Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Sommerville, of Roswell, NM, his brothers Gene and Charlie Sommerville, his sister Linda Downs; daughters Nancy Gramse, Lisa Wolters and her husband Keith, and son David Sommerville. He has six beloved grandchildren, Krystal Gramse, Heather Wilson, Matthew Singleton, James Singleton, Ashley Sommerville, and Megan Gramse. Robert has three great-grandchildren, Tatum Saavedra, Kathryn Saavedra, and Madeline Wilson. There are also three adored nephews whom he treated as his own sons, John, Rodney, and Christopher Williams.

Robert served 22 years in the Air Force, serving two tours in Viet Nam and retiring as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for the TMC Nova Bus Company for 20 years.

Robert immensely enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. A very family-oriented man, he was a father to all, who would go out of his way to help anyone. His door was always open.

For sense we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all of the Christian who have died.

Richard Ballard Lodewick

Richard Ballard Lodewick was born to Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Lodewick in Roswell, New Mexico, on July 12, 1933. He attended Roswell Public Schools through the eighth grade. As a ninth grader he entered New Mexico Military Institute where he graduated from high school and junior college. While at NMMI he was awarded the honor of Distinguished Military Student. After graduating from junior college, he attended the University of Wyoming where he belonged to Sigma Nu fraternity and where he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science with a concentration in petroleum geology. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army for two years, he entered the University of New Mexico, where he received his Master of Science degree; afterwards, he received his PhD from the University of Arizona, again concentrating in petroleum geology. He worked for Homestake Mining Company, Core Laboratories, and Oryx Petroleum Co., and taught geology at Midland Junior College and the University of Arizona.

Dick was deeply loved by friends and family and will be sorely missed. At the time of his death he was living in Placitas, N.M. with Clydean, his devoted wife whom he adored. He is survived by Clydean; his children, Steven Ballard Lodewick and Mary Lee Schimmel and her husband Mark; a brother, John W. Lodewick and his wife Julie; and a sister, Laura Patricia Lodewick.

There will be a family graveside service on Thursday morning.

Guimel nacio el 13 de Marzo, 1994 en Chicago, Illinois a Salomon Vazquez y Alma Gutierrez. Sus padres le sobreviven en su casa familiar de Dexter. Tambien le sobrevive su hermano, Gibran Vazquez; su hermana Shelsy Vazquez y una sobrina Genesis Concepcion Vazquez.

La fee de Guimel fue catolica,miembro de la parroquia Inmaculada Concepcion. El disfrutaba en ir al gymnacio, pero mas le gustaba pasar tiempo son su hermano menor y su hermana a quien el le tomova mucho cuidado. A Guimel le gustaban los Rolling Stones junto con la musica en español. El amaba su familia y sus amigos mucho. Sus inspiraciones eran de ser oficial de policia, de cual acababa de recivir su certificado de aceptacion. El sera extrañado por todos quien lo llegaron a conocer y lo amaban.

Sus cargadores de ataud seran Gibran Vazquez, Salomon Vazquez, Arturo Urquidi, Henry Barraza, Emilio Herrera y Irvin Gurierrez.

En honor sus cargadores de ataud seran, Leonel Barraza, Arnulfo Herrera y Ivan Gutierrez.

Mrs. Lamb, 98, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at Villa Del Rey in Roswell, New Mexico.

Rev. Dan Phelps will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Betty was born September 5, 1916, in Lander, Wyoming; the daughter of Henry Gilbert Bizzell and Lucile Rodgers (Cutter) Bizzell. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Hobbs, NM.

On June 17, 1938, she was married to N. Raymond Lamb in Lubbock, Texas. He preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1997.

She was a Teaching Assistant for the Artesia Public Schools, a member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of P.E.O., a Girl Scout leader, served on the Library Board and a member of the Women’s Association with the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dolores Knott.

Survivors include her daughters Nancy Lamb of West Linn, Oregon, Noelle Lamb of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, Sally Chumbley of San Jose, CA and Penelope Lamb of Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren Susan Rook and Amanda Schaible; great-grandchildren David and Michael Rook.

Lori was born November 5, 1959 to Harold and Juanez Broughton in Austin, TX. She graduated from Coahoma High School in 1977. She began her college journey at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene TX, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Religious Education. Lori met Steve at Hardin University and they married on July 2, 1983. She earned her second bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Eastern New Mexico University.

Lori loved her husband, daughters and her grandchildren; they were her life. She enjoyed cooking and her most memorable dish was her color pancakes, which many of her students will remember. Lori’s calling in life was to teach, she touched so many lives in her classroom that echo throughout her student’s lives. She wanted to see everything and loved traveling and learning all she could. Some of her travel highlights included Alaska, Wyoming’s Teton Mountains, the Caribbean and many others.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband, Steve; her mother, Juanez; daughters Audrey Knudsen and her husband Chris; Ashlea Daniels and her husband Jeremy; brother, Bruce Broughton; grandchildren, Chris Knudsen IV, Wyatt Knudsen, Erik Knudsen, Ryder Daniels, Grayson Knudsen, Easton Daniels and Owen Carter Daniels.

Lori is preceded in death by her father, Harold Broughton; brother Jack Broughton and grandmother, Myrlene Rogers (GranGran).

Pallbearers will be Ron Tidmore, Kelly Rogers, Del Jurney, Justin McGallian, Chris Knudsen, Jeremy Daniels, Brandon Rogers and David Jimenez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren and Alan Gedde.
