Donald Henry Tineo passed away on February 18, 2015. Don is survived by his two daughters, Deidra and Deanne, and husband, Scott; his sister Jennifer; his niece Lacey and her husband, Greg; and great-niece Lily. Raised in San Diego, CA but resident of Roswell, NM since 2006, “Tinman” grew up with a love for surfing the California and Baja waves. Don had an appreciation of nature and the outdoors and that was reflected in the beautiful gardens he grew over the years. Don developed a passion for cycling and now has thousands of miles of open roads, as well as many races, under his belt. His natural artistic talent shone bright when he picked up oil painting during his years in Roswell, painting many scenes from his travels as well as portraits of dear friends. Barns, valleys and desert landscapes were a few of his favorite subjects.
Don’s favorite saying was “Every day is a gift, that’s why they call it the present” and that rings true to how he lived. A favorite pastime of Don’s was taking long drives, exploring the back roads and tiny towns along the way. Drive on, drive on, drive on the blue highways. He formed friendships everywhere he went and all who knew him were touched by his generosity, humor, honesty, kindness, loyalty and strength of character.
Loving father and loyal friend, you will be missed.
Memorial to be held in San Diego. Please contact family for details.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory. An online registry can be accessed at ballardfuneralhome.com

Robbie Gay Ashbrook-Benzinger was born February 4th, 1956 to Barbara and Ray Ashbrook, during one of the worst blizzards in New Mexico. She was a ray of sunshine helping to melt the snow, as well as melting the hearts of all who met her.
Robbie was a happy child, and as a toddler wanted to be outside playing with all the animals. Being free to roam around the farm, she did as all toddlers did — she put everything in her mouth. As we soon discovered, that included chicken poop. Ray promptly built a fence around the yard. Was that to keep Robbie in, or to keep the chickens out?
Barbara sewed all of Robbie’s clothes. Robbie flatly refused to wear “anything with lace” because according to Robbie, “It’s too itchy!” That was one of the beginning signs of Robbie’s independence and stubbornness.
Robbie attended schools in Causey and Roswell, where she received her G.E.D. from Roswell High in 1974. After high school, she lived a short time in Albuquerque, Houston, and Detroit. Later, she lived in San Diego, CA from the spring of 1977 until June of 2003, when she returned to New Mexico with her only child, Kylie Ranae Katalinich.
Robbie’s greatest joy in life was Kylie. Robbie was devoted to Kylie in every way. She raised Kylie to have the strength and courage to become the vibrant, beautiful, talented, and loving woman she is today.
Robbie loved music and passed that love to Kylie, too. Robbie enjoyed cooking, camping, and spending time with friends.
Robbie and her fondness of the outdoors brought Robbie to a career of horticulture, where she was employed in the famed Balboa Park in San Diego. She retired from there after 20 years of dedicated service. After returning to Portales, she was employed by ENMU as a groundskeeper for almost four years. Illness required her to leave that position.
Robbie loved the Pacific Ocean breeze, the beautiful garden she worked in, and last but not least Kylie.
Robbie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Neal Ashbrook. She is survived by her beloved daughter Kylie Ranae Katalinich and sister Janise Ranae Ashbrook-Langston, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
A memorial service will be located in Buchanan Hall in ENMU’s Music Building in Portales at 12 o’clock, Saturday, February 28th; and a reception will follow, located at Portales’ Memorial Building shortly after the memorial.

From Mommy and Daddy:
“Our Dearest Lil Jacob”
Our dearest lil Jacob who was so pure and true, it’s not at all right what has happened to you
Where did you go, why did you leave, you should have gone home and been able to believe
We know you’re okay and know that you’re happy but it shouldn’t be this way, it’s just no way to be
Our dearest lil Jacob, whose hands were so small, you were so young when you had left us all
You were one of a kind and so easy to remember, you’re never forgotten and in our hearts forever
These days now are so different, they’re no way the same, it’s now filled with sadness, so many tears and so much pain
Our dearest lil Jacob, you touched so many hearts in the time you spent here
You’re looking down above with your new beautiful wings, but we miss you so much and it’s so hard to stop weeping
Take care of your daddy and mommy, always be by their side, give them sweet kisses while they’re sleeping at night
Our dearest lil Jacob, you may no longer be here, but just know we love you dearly and we know you’re always near.
From your uncle:
“Don’t Be So Fast To Say Goodbye”
My dear nephew,
Wait I wanted to tell you please make sure to say thank you please use your manners like yes sir, no sir, and when you go on your first date make sure to pay! Oh yeah and get the door for her! There is so much more I gotta teach you so I will not let you go, I am gonna put you in my heart and everywhere I go you will be with me and we can learn all these things together. There will be no goodbyes from me today. I’ll love you always lil man!
Love Uncle Tito AKA Tommy Ray.

Dad
A dad is a person who’s loving and kind,
And often he knows
What you have on your mind.
He’s someone who listens, suggests,
and defends —
A dad can be one of your very best friends.
He’s proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient and helpful and strong.
In all that you do, a dad’s love plays a part —
There’s always a place for him
deep in your heart —
And each year that passes you’re even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad.
